Puerto Rico, el Estado Cincuenta y Uno?

So I haven't been listening to the radio for a long time, and I just caught a piece of Glenn Beck talking today about a push by the "regime" as I heard Rush calling the Obama administration today to make Puerto Rico the 51st state. The way it would be done is by imposing a vote that would take the current status of the island (territory) off of the table. This would lead to independence or statehood. Consistently, the people of Puerto Rico have voted against both options. But, if the current status is off of the table, it will essentially push Puerto Rico into becoming a state, and very likely adding two Democrat Senators and 4-5 Democrat Representatives. If that happens, I think Texas seriously should consider splitting into 5 states, which it can do, adding 7-8 more Republican Senators.

What are your thoughts on this?

First of all, Texas will never split into 5 separate states, it's just not...Texan.

I've always favored statehood for Puerto Rico; if they want it. If it becomes a democrat leanin state, so be it. I believe that after a few years of statehood they'd swing right.

Puerto Ricans pay taxes, raise families, are probably more "religious" than many states, fight in our wars and are generally stand-up peeps.

I appreciate your opinion of us being "stand up."

I have gone back and forth on this issue, between statehood and independence. I think for most Puerto Ricans, statehood is preferable to independence, but the status quo is preferable to statehood. If this Congress forces their hand to get two more democrat seats in the Senate, this will be yet another act of treachery on their part. They will stop at nothing to turn us into a European Social "Democracy". Even forcing a territory into statehood.

So no "5 state solution" Reck? I think it would be a good way to piss the Dems off. When Texas secedes, we'll still be Texans. But you're probably right. Not likely.

My thinking on this is that you don't seem to be saying anything that any logical person could really understand (except to know that the only thing that you could be doing is lying-type propaganda.)

Actually, I don't care what you was referrin to. If you had anything to say, you could say it on any of your two blogs (and/or Linda's and/or my blog.)

I'm responding to Nestor's post, and not yours. Unless of course that you and Nestor are one and the same. :-)

It seems that Nestor has never heard of "Six flags over Texas." :-)
