Ok, so I just realized that the tree is not lighted in this picture so there's that. But another bit of info is that the tree in the picture (at the tree farm) is not the same one that we brought home. We have gone for three years to the same tree farm to get our Christmas tree. This year, we found our tree took some pictures and cut it down. We put the tag on it and the guys take it to where you pay, they shake it out, bag it up and you grab it and pay by the height. Sounds simple right? That's what I thought so we went into their Christmas Cottage and looked at their merchandise. There was lots of cool stuff, but what I really liked were these boxes that have gold, frankenscence and myrrh. Really nice. Anyway, some time later we go to get our tree, but it's not there. There was a tree with a ticket that was almost the same as ours, I don't remember the exact numbers but it might have ended in 378 and ours was 387. At any rate, if someone had a moment of dyslexia, they might have paid for, and taken, the tree that we took our picture in front of. I was pretty upset and frustrated and frankly ready to go home, but I knew we didn't have another day where we'd be able to go. I work most weekends and with Carmen working days and me working evenings, it was really the last day to reasonably get a tree. So we trudged back out, searched for another tree, cut it down, and followed it the whole way this year.
As a note to Linda, there are tree stands which will adjust your tree for you. You lock the tree into one part which sits in the base. The base has a certain amount of swivel to it so that you can adjust as necessary. It's the best $30 investment on Christmas supplies that we've made.

Wow, that's a full tree..it looks so "healthy" compared to ours! Beautiful. Thanks for the tip!
Merry Christmas to you and your fam, Nestor!
So when I looked closer, I realized that the tree WAS lighted. But the setting that we have our lights on, only half of them are on at a time. They slowly go on and off. I like that slightly better than all of them on. I think the other 14 settings are designed to induce epiliptic episodes.
We bought lights for the tree where every fifth bulb twinkles. The thing is, every fifth bulb is purple. So they coulda just said 'the purple lights twinkle'. I'm typing this really fast, cuz I'm parked in front of the tree, and this tree is seriously leanin and I'm afraid I'm running out of ti
Did the tree fall, or is this payback for my electrocu comment back in the day.
Payback. Tho I knew somebody did that once, but couldn't remember who. :)
I see why you picked the first one, it's shaped perfectly. Your backup one looks good too. Like the way yall streamed the tinsel down instead a around.
Hope Santa was good to yall.
I think I remember when they came out with that tinsel. The original tinsel was on a string that you wrapped around the tree, then they came out w/ the stuff that you lay on so that hangs. The only complaint I've heard about it is that it's a bloody mess to clean up.
Ok, I just looked at the picture, and it's ribbon not tinsel.
It's tinsel-ish.
Growing up, we always used garland, which is what I think you are calling 'tinsel'. I always understood tinsel to be the little things that hung on the tree that were a pain to hang and a pain to clean, but looked good...if you put it up properly. We have been doing the ribbon thing for a while, but this is the first year we've gone vertical with the ribbon. Also, the ornaments are all new this year with the exception of the special ones. But Carmen said our tree was beginning to look too much like an American flag. We had red, white, blue and silver ornaments. I thought it looked really good, but Carmen wanted a change. Sometimes change is good, sometimes, not so much. I think the tree looks good, so maybe we'll go back to the 'Patriot Tree' in a few years, but we may roll with this plan for a few.
Yes, garland's the more accurate description. You wordsmith, you.
I like the tree. Very uniformed. Ours has had so many things added to it over the last 10 yrs, that there's no real "theme". Plus, alotta stuff just stays in the boxes now.
I've never done the themed, uniformed tree. It's always been a mishmash of ornaments..gifted ones, homemade ones, old ones, souvenier type ones, etc. Probably cuz that's how my mom's was growing up.
I like those classy trees, tho. They're pretty. But I ain't changin.
