Congratulations 'My Friend'

To Senator McCain:

Congratulations my friend. You did well in the debate, last night. I think you finally won outright. I think, substance wise you have been winning, but you have come across as robotic, cantankerous, and choppy and have said, 'my friends' far too often. Last night, you articulated your points better, taking Senator Obama to task on many occasions. Probably not enough for my liking, but probably as much as the debate format would allow. There are still people out there who do not yet understand that Senator Obama is the second coming of Jimmy Carter, or even worse, Benito Mussolini. His desire to socialize everything is plain wrong and un-American.

Senator McCain, you said last night that you are a Federalist. This was a profound statement. Stating the differences between Federalism and Socialism could win you the election. The federal government has grown too big for its britches, (much like many of the American People) and has exceeded its constitutional mandate. We need to get it in check. Please go back in the direction of true constitutional government, and draw the line between yourself and Senator Obama on these issues. As much as the American people should be shocked and appalled by Obama's connections with William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan and Raila Odinga, they, for some reason do not care. But I believe that Americans do believe in the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, they just don't know what the documents say. These two documents along with the Magna Carta are probably the greatest documents in the history of the world with the only exception being the Holy Bible. People respect these documents, tell them what was written 225 years ago, how you will uphold these documents, and how Senator Obama will not.

Good post, Nestor. I agree..thought he did a good job last night. Better than in previous debates. The "I'm not George Bush" line was the best of the night. It was good to see him on the offensive.

I liked that line too, it was probably rehearsed, but seemed 'off the cuff'. I think McCain is flawed, but far better than the alternative.

On a side note, I'm starting to get hacked off by CNN.com's 'fact check' section. They spin Obama's position and say it's 'fact'. Or they say that McCain is fudging the truth. The bottom line is they are using 'businesses' that do not employ anyone (other than the owner, who most likely holds another job) to pad their numbers as to what is a small business. The bottom line is, a business which employs more people than just the owner, is very likely to be into the $250,000 ballpark. Many of these businesses are in personal debt to keep the businesses afloat.

I know a dentist who hasn't been paid in two years because he's trying to expand his business. But if Obama raises his taxes, he'll have to lay people off just to keep afloat. But according to Obama, he's 'rich', because his business generates over $250,000, even if the profit is 0. (there's my Joe the plumber story for the day)

Now if only Stan will comment here and we can see if it's really Houston or SLC :)

Nice letter, you should send it to McCain. Don't e-mail it tho ;)

Those "fact ck" things by the biased press remind me of their occasional TH meetings discussin whether or not the media is biased.
What a joke!

It's ashame McCain/Palin hafta spend so much time "attackin" Obama's past. If the press did their job, both ways, they could talk more specifics imo.

Well, I'm pretty sure he's in H-Town, unless he was REALLY playing up the Ike thing. Speaking of Ike, some of the brothers in my church were in H-Town this past weekend doing cleanup work. They will be going to Galveston (brothers and sisters from Houston, Dallas, SA and Austin) from the 6-9th of November (bulk of the work to be on the 8th though) to do cleanup there. They will be having an open air church service in Galveston on Sunday. I'd like to go, but I haven't received my work schedule yet, and my 30th is that weekend. We'll see though, maybe I can pull something off.

Hear that, Reck? His THIRTIETH is that weekend. Feelin old?
(I'm not, but I'm thinkin you do.) ;)

N, here's another comment on GB. There's 27! I'll try to pick out the relevant ones....

Lincoln could have never assembled the Union army if D.C. weren't directly threatened by the CSA, Ft Sumter hadn't been fired on by South Carolina, and if the two sides hadn't already been killing each other for half a decade in Kansas. The unresolved issue of slavery also gave Lincoln a moral issue, without which he would have been lacking a good deal of support.

I don't see a combination of these sorts of issues, currently. Texas might attack Fort Hood, in theory, but there's no strong moral argument to start a war. Frankly, a third of the population would be glad to see Texas go, and another third would be trying to move to Texas before they build a fence along the U.S. border.

Texas is in no position to attack D.C. (nor does it have any reason to). It could get complicated if Virginia suceeds and tries to unite with Texas, but I see no reason why Texas would want to involve itself with Virginia.

In short, I see no good reason why an independent Texas would lead to another Civil War.

Another:

Is it true that in the "contract" Texas signed when it became a state, in there it says they can leave the union at any time, and that's why Texas is a republic and not a state?

No it's not true. There was a treaty drawn up to bring Texas in as a state (there was no provision in the constitution for bringing an independent republic as a state) but it was never signed. Texas was brought in under an act of Congress though. Doing so gave Texas a "sweeter" deal in becoming a state like keeping all of its public land and not having to go through a period of being a territory before becoming a state.

There are a bunch of myths about Texas. We can not succeed simply by voting to do so. We have no more right than any other state to succession. I've grown up in Texas and there has always been talk of succession; people thinking it would be a good idea. I've noticed there has been a lot more of this kind of talk in the last 5 - 10yrs. I've always been in favor of it especially in the last 5 -10yrs.

Thanks for the updates Linda. It'll be interesting if nothing else to see what happens if Obama wins. I don't think Texas (or any other state) would secede based simply on his election. But if liberties begin eroding 'for the greater good', then I think there will be a serious secession movement. Here's hoping 'my friend' will win.

But maybe all will not be lost, there will be very soon the emergence of the "Savage Nation Party". I just hope he changes the name of the party. Great for his talk show, for a political party...not so much.

RecknHavic said...

I'm assumin the first thing President Savage would do is bomb San Fran-freak-show.

Course... he lives there...so maybe not.

Love the Roosevelt/Churchill quotes.

Nestor said...

You heard it here first.

Texas 42
Missouri 31

Nestor said...

OK, well it'll be interesting to see if Missouri scores at all.

RecknHavic said...

Ut looks tough. Whoever wins the Big !2 will be a freakin power house.

Nestor said...

Well I guessed Missouri's score, I just didn't think Texas would be that good. What's sad is the game wasn't as close as the score. With 1 second left in the first half it was 35-0. Missouri got a field goal right at halftime.

The 'Horns still have two more tough ones though. OK St. comes to Austin next week, then they go up to Lubbock to play Tech. Four straight weeks of teams that have been in the top ten during the season. That should help with the computer rankings on that BCS garbage.

Well the Big 12 South is good, except Baylor and for some reason A&M. I know they're Aggies and all but they usually have a better team than this year. Kansas is the only team in the North with a winning record, and they lost today, albeit to a really good Oklahoma team.

RecknHavic said...

There's lotsa more parity in college football now-a-days, but if you look at the rankings, B12 looks stout.
I'm glad Baylor sucks, they stole Briles from the Coogs; tho I'm liken Sumlin.

Course I'm still bitter bout the SW conf breakin up.

That Teddy quote up right now is prophetic.

Yeah, I love that quote. I have that one on my favorite quotes on facebook.

RecknHavic said...

Never have cked out facebook. Is it like you tube or something?

Nestor said...

No, it's kind of like a personal website, but you can communicate with lots of people. Right now I have about 75 'friends' on facebook. It's mostly people from church in Austin, SA, a couple of people from High School and some of my family. It's pretty cool. Maybe you should create a facebook page. I'll bet you could even be Sarah Palin's facebook 'friend'. The only politician I'm supporting on facebook is Bobby Jindal right now. But It's pretty cool.

Sign me up!

I like Jindal alot as well. Jindal, Palin and some other up and comers are the future (hopefully) of a conservative republican party.

We'll see...

Noticed your quotes section increased.

Good choices all.
