More Bumper Stickers

I saw a vehicle with 2 bumper stickers today. One said "Obama '08". The other one said, "When Bush took office gas was $1.46"

It's the second one that made me scratch my head. While it may be true that gas has gone up while Bush has been in office, it has skyrocketed in the last year and a half under San Fran Nan's Democrat controlled, 'Most Ethical Congress'. In Bush's first 6 years gas went up about 75 cents. Since the Democrats have been running Congress, gas has gone up well over a dollar. The reason gas is so expensive is simply supply and demand.

China and India have massively increased the demand on oil, and the supply hasn't increased to keep up. We have somewhere between 6 and 16 billion barrels of oil in the ANWR. Billions and billions more on the Pacific and Gulf Coasts and an estimated 1 trillion barrels of shale oil in the Rockies. Tapping these oil resources, increasing the use of nuclear energy, clean coal and other sources of energy would lower gas prices and buy us time to find real alternative fuels without having to rely on Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Venezuela and other nations for our oil. We could and should get most of our energy from here in America, not get it from countries who hate (or at least dislike) us.

The bottom line is, if you don't like gas prices (which no one does, except maybe the Democrat leadership) the blame doesn't lie with Bush. It lies with the Congress which has consistently blocked the creation of new refineries and has stopped all expansion of drilling for oil here in America, while still blaming George Bush, the Republicans, and 'Big Oil'. My challenge to Democrats and liberals (and conservatives as well) who don't like the price of oil, tell your Speaker, Congressman/woman and Senators that you want exploration and drilling to begin in America so that in 5 to 10 years we can begin to cut ourselves free of foreign oil.

I've often wondered why Bush (and the RINOs) haven't fought more for drilln in ANWR. And yes, shale could be a long term solution. 'Course hemp bio fuel (as you've mentioned before) might lower prices before they reach an alltime "high". {That was for *YOU* Stan}

Nest,

I'm thinkn Blanco State Park for fish on Memorial Day. At state parks all ya have to do is pay enterance fee (no need for fishn liscenses) to fish.

Nestor said...

We haven't been to that park before. Sounds like a plan.

Hey Reck, I was just reading Stu's blog on GB's website and he has a link to a utube video of how much of America saw the Idol finale last night! Right up till the last name before it stops! LOL!!! Exactly how you said...very funny.

This is sorta weird...

I tried making reservations at a roadside motel in Springdale, Utah on line. Apparently the reservation is just a "request for a reservation". They'll get back to me via email w/ in the next few days to tell me if it was granted. It's a MOTEL, not the Taj Mahal. What are they a genie in a bottle??

"Yes, Linda...YOU may stay at our luxurious motel on the nights you wish! You have 2 more wishes...(may I suggest admittance to our gift shop?)"

Of course I'll be up north this weekend, so I'll have no idea whether or not my wish was granted till I get back on Monday, 4 days before I want to stay there. Arg.

Ok, I can hear my boys outside playing with their friends and they're trying to decide what to play. The neighbor boy yells (cuz they all yell), "Let's play ghost in the graveyard!" And Tony yells back, "No, let's play something different, like HUMAN CHESS!"

Human chess?? My kid is obviously an adrenline junky. Emergency room here we come!

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, forgotta bout your Utes trip. Might I suggest an inn or a hotel?

Human chess..hope it's not ala Harry Potter.

Anonymous said...

You can suggest it, but I've already wasted one wish on the Motel genie, so I've gotta wait to see what happens. Don't want a B&B...too..social. I don't wanna have to talk to anybody.

Ah! Harry Potter! We've never seen those, but if there's a human chess scene, I'd guess he's heard about it from someone who has. At least that makes sense..(thought it was kinda strange.)

So what what kinda fish will you be fishing for this weekend? I'm gonna try to get out this year, I'm usually watching the kids, but I have a new sister-in-law who actually enjoys keeping her eye on them, so I have more time if I want it. The weather's supposed to be good, too, so that'll be nice.

Pistons play again tnite. Makes me nervous. I don't have a good feeling about it.

Probably just the usual mix a cats, perch and bass.

Yes, Ron Wesley got Harry past that particular challenge in the first book/movie. It was called Wizard's Chess..go figure.

For some one who's slept under the Eiffel Tower (wow spelled that right in first go) I figured you'd just park it at a rest stop :)

Our Wings made it to the Cup final, so ya gotta have *FAITH*

Once again Nestor is engaging in projection. Energy policy was set by the oil companies in Dick Cheney's office. We know this by how much time Cheney has spent covering it up.

Ha, I've had my fill of sleepin at rest stops. Hang a sheet in the window for privacy, park in the corner...no tell mo-tel is better.

"Our" Wings, you're funny. Ok, I've got faith, but basketball is darn STRESSFUL.

You should be ok sleeping off the side of the road in most places in Utah. But if you're worried about voyuers, don't park close to a LDS church. ;-) Just a little advice. :-)

Har har Stan! Hey Stan, any plans for the holiday weekend? What do you do for fun?

Stan Rosenthal said...

Unforturnately, blogging is my fun right now. I'm kind've stuck in town caring for my parents ...

Anonymous said...

Yea for the Pistons! Next game airs at the same time as the 1st game for the Wings, Sat. night. No DVR at the cottage...could be rough! ;)

Anonymous said...

Oooh I get to jinx Stan! You owe me a coke. Take good care of those 'rents and have yourself a good holiday weekend!

Anonymous said...

Hey reck, I'm going to assume that we are bringing lunch. How many in your family? I want to make sure we bring enough to share. I've never been fishing before, are we actually going to cook the fish or should we bring some to cook for back up?
Should we bring coals and such? if so are grilled veggies and corn good?
I'm trying to get ready for mon.
I'm really looking forward to it.

It was a good jinx, Linda. We managed to find help to replace vacationing help (which I was daily covering (as best I could)), I found out this evening. Whilst I still probably can't get out to Canada, I am free to do a day trip to say like Austin to hook up with Nestor and Reck or whomever ...

You assume right.

Don't know if there are stand alone pits there (like at big city parks). Plus, there may be a burn ban in effect (tho that doesn't apply to enclosed pits). Sandwiches and snacks might be better. We'll bring plenty a drinks.
Re: fish (very optimistic we'll limit out); we'll fillet and pack in ice (unless cookin there is an option).

We're lookin forward to it as well. Have Nest give me a call.

S and I went and saw the new Indiana Jones movie today. Now, remembern that there is probably not a bigger Jones fan than yours truly (and w/out givin anything away) let me just state for the record, THIS MOVIE SUCKED! A better title woulda been Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Very Dull. I will not mention it again, cause, as I said, don't want to ruin it for e1 (like that's possible cause it BIT!)

Went to see it at the Palladium, which is nice. Fanciest theater I've ever been to.

Ok, testn whether or not I can paste a link here. Here goes.

Blogger seemed much more user friendly to me than Townhall, which is why I switched to blogger after a day at townhall. I'm not sure how you add pics over there. It's not too difficult on blogger though.
