But Everyone's Doing It (Part 2)

Well I am working on this blog. Soon I'll add more things to the blog, pictures and such, but for now I'll start by saying that I'm entering into new territory. I have always been shy, and the first few times I ever posted on a blog, were strange to me. I've been working on public speaking and I even took a public speaking class this past summer. I would eventually like to serve in my church as an elder (I'm about 15-20 years away from this) but I'd like to serve in numerous ways. This past weekend I did my first communion message here in Austin. I did one before one time but that was at a much smaller church. I wasn't nearly as nervous as I thought I'd be, which was good, and I stayed pretty close to my intended message. Anyway, I'd considered starting a blog and when my wife set one up in about 15 minutes that looked really cool, I figured 'why can't I do that?' I'm not very technologically savvy, but this is not too bad. Anyway, there is no real point to this, and I'm starting to ramble so I'll stop. Tschuss

Let's see if I look better now ...

You misspelled your poll question. It should read "Is LIEberman a mental disorder?". ;-)

Well church was good tonight. For the last few weeks the men have been studying 2 Peter 1:5.

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Tonight was brotherly kindness which in the Greek is something like Philadephianos. (I probably destroyed it) We watched a few scenes from Henry V and talked about how it had spiritual impact. I'd never seen the movie or read the play (I struggle with Shakespeare), but I love this part:

KING HENRY V:
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

I like the 2 Peter Scripture you quoted. Reminds me of Gal 5 16, 22-23. When temptation, laziness or whatever tugs at me I repeat the Galatians verses. Been struggln alittle bit to find my quite time w/ the Lord. Wierd because I've had more free time lately than usual. Works pickn up tho, I think I do better when I have more of a set routine.

God bless.

It's strange how when you have less to do, your quiet times get worse. I think for me, it's because I sleep in, and when I get up, the kids are up, and chaos has ensued. I also think that when you have a lot to do, you make more of a conscious effort to have times with the Lord, because you can't make it without Him. Anyway, time for bed. GNA

BTW I'll know my test score tomorrow.(is that the time? OK later today)

Nestor said...

Well the score is in:

I got an 80. Not terrible considering it was a hard test, but I thought I had done better. Oh well. This time next week, I'll be done with the semester. I hope the google thing is not a problem for people. I had started a townhall blog, and realized I didn't like all the advertisements. I would put up ads if people paid me, but I'd rather not have all that stuff otherwise.

Hi,
Changed my email address to my other one, maybe this'll work better.
Good job on the test!
Reg. how your quiet times get worse the more time you have. I totally agree with you. I don't spend my quiet times with God, but I do have an innervoice that won't shut up. The more free time, the louder it is. And frankly, one's innervoice is rarely welcome.

Me again.
Just wondered if you were having trouble with Townhall or R's blog today. Don't know if it's me, but I seem to be getting around ok elsewhere. Tho here my default account doesn't let me post, so not sure how I'll handle that. If you check tonight, will you let me know if you can access his? thanks.

RecknHavic said...

Finally!

Congrats on the 80..although I did expect better :)

Linda,
That innervoice could be telln ya something...like...shop at Kohls (if you have one there) 'cause they have Merry Christmas signs in their stores.

Nest, shame you don't like the ads..pays pretty well.

Stan Rosenthal said...

To TH, right Reck? They're giving you a cut?

Nestor said...

Well how much do they pay? I wouldn't mind ads if I'm getting paid, but If they're not ponying up any money, they get no love on my blog.

Re: pay for adverts...I wish. Then I could quit my day job, huh Stan.

Hey Nest,
Great comments re God and evolution. Would be a good post subject. Hard to understand the creationists' belief in the 6000 yr old earth, but it doesn't really matter in regards to salvation.

> Re: pay for adverts...I wish. Then I could quit my day job, huh Stan.

I'm investigating whether I can place advs. on the online WordPress version in which my blog runs on (I'm certain the download version that you run on your own server does allow it.)

And no, not that much money until we build enough traffic to our blogs. Think of the money my friend, and you'll know why we should work together to popularize our blogs ...

Nestor said...

Look at Stanley the capitalist! :)

Stan Rosenthal said...

It looks like my blog's got to be on it's own server because the advs run on scripts and WordPress doesn't allow scripts on it's server (unless they put them in.)

Stan Rosenthal said...

I'm getting my website switched over to a server that can handle my blog, they say it will be done by Monday, so I should probably have my blog on my server by the end of the week, and then we should start seeing some of the added features I want to ad.
